Siena e Pisa
17-18 Agosto 2010 – E poi è venuta il giorno che siamo andati a Siena e io c’ero già stato ma ci son tornato ben volentieri. A girare un po’, abbiam visto il Duomo incompleto e gli angoli della città, e poi la piazza del Campo, che fatalità il giorno prima avevano corso il celeberrimo palio dell’Assunta e c’era per terra ancora tutto il sedime che serve per far correre i cavalli. E poi all’improvviso è arrivata tutta la banda della contrada della Tartuca che aveva vinto il giorno prima, e a queste cose, si sa, i Senesi ci tengono. E’ stata una vera e propria “serendipity”.
Il giorno dopo siamo a Pisa a vedere la famosa piazza e a scalare l’ultima torre, quella di Pisa, per l’appunto. E una volta in cima, complice il fatto che qua è tutto all’aperto, non ero l’unico ad essere vittima di lievi vertigini.

August 17-18, 2010 – And then the day came when we went to Siena and I had already been there, but I went back there gladly. To go around a bit, we saw the Cathedral incomplete and the corners of the city, and then the Piazza del Campo, which fatality the day before had run the famous Palio dell’Assunta and there was still all the sedime on the ground that is needed to run the horses. And then suddenly the whole gang from the Tartuca district that had won the day before arrived, and the Sienese, as you know, care about these things. It was a real serendipity.
The next day we are in Pisa to see the famous square and climb the last tower, the one in Pisa, in fact. And once at the top, thanks to the fact that everything here is outdoors, I wasn’t the only one who was the victim of slight vertigo.
