E poi finalmente ci ritroviamo a letto.

22 March 2019 – In Berlin we will stay only 2 days: arrived today which is Friday, we will leave Sunday in the late morning.

So there is no time to lose. Immediately after having seen the Brandenburg Gate, having spent a few minutes reading the guide and discovering that the gate was in East Berlin; reading wikipedia, making our high cultural-historical considerations and evaluating the fact that the most interesting monuments are all in what used to be East Berlin and wondering if there was a reason; waiting endless minutes to find a way through the crowd to take a decent picture of the gate; we set off again in the direction of Check-Point Charlie which, to be honest, has now become a tourist circus, even if it always makes you think, and thinking about these people who for a few meters and a lot of bad luck had found themselves on the hardest side, not even being able to fight against the inevitability of fate, if not at the risk of their lives, gives you the shivers again.

We then dive into a more prosaic German dinner, looking for something typically Berlinese and choosing for this reason a pub that, unfortunately, will turn out to be Bavarian cuisine, making a resounding mistake, because Bavaria with Berlin, as Sicily with Milan.

Let’s retrace the previous path backwards, seeing Berlin again under the artificial light, and thanks to the incredible stabilization of the Olympus I also manage to bring home some decent shots freehand.

And then finally we find ourselves in bed.
