Dieci giorni in Croazia | 4 – Dubrovnik o King’s Landing?

June 27 – Today we go to Dubrovnik. And we are very excited to arrive in Dubrovnik, because we have recently seen the final season of Games of Throne, albeit being very disappointed like the rest of the world population, and right here the final scenes of the series were set (but also the initial and central) with all that [spoiler alert] that dragon fire and general destruction.
In fact, we are almost disappointed to discover that King’s Landing is actually still whole.
We arrive here in the middle of the morning, after having crossed the Croatian-Bosnian border, traveled about ten kilometers and crossed the Bosnian-Croatian border. Things that have not been seen since the 90s, these of crossing the European borders with the passport.
Hurry up the preliminaries, how to go to the accommodation, unload the luggage, meet the owners who did not know Italian, extricate ourselves among the buses in southern Croatia; we finally arrive in the city. As latitude we are about the height of Rome and it is very hot, the sun is very high, and the photos I already know will not be very good, so I limit myself to the usual tourist photos.
In some situations I could not even see inside the viewfinder, the sun was so bright.
The historic center here is wonderfully preserved, small but characteristic, and walking around it is a real pleasure: we are incredulous in front of the incredible number of swallows that fly over it without pause.
The final goal is the walk on the city walls but to do so we try to implement a very cunning stratagem: to deceive the time as much as possible by continuing to walk in the historic center, and thus hoping that evening arrives and that maybe the sun goes down and with it too. temperatures, which up there will be hot and could cause sunstroke and dehydration.
Unmissable therefore, of all, a visit to the location of Cersei’s walk of shame, and to others of the aforementioned show.
We remain a bit disappointed, however, because due to the intensive use of green screen used by the series, the locations are very different.
Unfortunately, the weather is not fooled and, even if the sun goes down, the temperatures do not and we just have to arm ourselves with infinite courage and climb the walls.
Walking there is very hard, the sun beats down, the temperature is close to 40 ° and the sweat becomes profuse. Fortunately, the small shops wisely distributed along the perimeter of the walls ensure that we have continuous supplies of the most precious asset: water.
From up there you can enjoy the spectacular view of the whole of Dubrovnik, its swallows, and the sea that seems endless.
After a tour of about 2 km we descend from the walls and return with our feet on the ground.
We are moving towards our apartment and in the meantime the evening is falling. The temperature and the lights go down, it’s a shame not to be able to enjoy this town even at night.
I take two photos, including one at the Lannister castle, and finally, with the right light, something decent comes out too.
