Ever since my wife and I happily learned that shortly thereafter we were going to have a midget who would destroy the house, apart from a photo project related to her baby bump, and too intimate to be published here, the photograph was a bit l last of my thoughts. There was practically only the short, and not too convinced, parenthesis in which I picked up the camera during the holidays in the mountains, and then nothing else.
Then one Saturday morning in October, while I was pushing the stroller through the streets of my village and observing the yellowed leaves of the trees, remembering when we turned the Triveneto to photograph yellowed woods and mountains, I was suddenly pierced by an illumination, which at times one does not think about the most obvious things, and it occurred to me that my iPhone (11 ed) could take great photos if necessary.
I immediately took a few and I didn’t like the result, I don’t know about you, but it seems to me that the jpegs that the iPhone produces, I don’t know the other phones, are all oversaturated and too rich in detail.
So, in those days of pandemic and smart-working, once at home in the rare moments of peace, I was again struck by an illumination, and I thought that the iPhone was also shooting in RAW, and maybe I could have taken some quick shots, but better.
The monkey took me, as young people say, and I spent all Saturday and Sunday trying apps that shoot in RAW, but apart from not understanding where the RAW photos were saved and why I kept seeing the jpegs in the phone roll , then there was all the hassle of exporting them to another app (VSCO or Darkroom or whatever) to postproduce it, making the whole process long and boring.
A third shock struck me, and I remembered that inexplicably I was still paying for Lightroom, and I was very happy when I remembered that everything was connected there: I shot with the phone, I could postproduce very quickly from the phone, raising the curve a little on the side of the shadows, working on the tones to bring out the yellows and then, if I was still not satisfied, I would have found everything in Lightroom on the Mac without doing anything.
What sly these Adobe, once again tied me to their hateful subscription!
So I took several photos all with the iPhone, I post-produced some that did not seem bad to me and I published them here.
And so even in this crazy 2020 now running out, the foliage season had been immortalized.

Obviously then the passion, which in me always has a sinusoidal character, has awakened completely, and not being able to turn much to photograph due to the pandemic that forces us into the house and the little girl who absorbs us almost completely, I began to put order the photos of the past, to dust off old ones taken during forgotten journeys, postproduce them and publish them in this blog, which has become a real photographic diary.
Among other things, I also migrated this blog from Tumblr to WordPress, definitely and with satisfaction.
And I also dusted off the Olympus, and taking advantage of the lunch breaks during smart-working, climbing up the hill, I started photographing with her again, sometimes even with a tripod.
